Expanded Four-Day Celebration
The Scenic Rim Clydesdale Spectacular is set to return to Beaudesert from 11-14 June 2026, featuring an expanded four-day programme celebrating Clydesdales and their heritage. This event is renowned as the richest Clydesdale show in the Southern Hemisphere and attracts enthusiasts from across the globe.
Event director Greta Stanfield emphasised the importance of these magnificent horses, stating, “Our region owes much to the majestic Clydesdales, which played a key role in establishing the Scenic Rim’s rich agricultural base.” The Clydesdale Spectacular not only celebrates these gentle giants but also honors their historical significance in Australia.
Held at the Beaudesert Showgrounds, the event promises a lively atmosphere with a variety of activities. On Thursday, 11 June, the Clydesdale Cup Golf Day kicks off the festivities. Friday, 12 June, features the Clydesdale Cup Race Day, offering a thrilling experience for attendees. The weekend culminates with two full days dedicated to the Clydesdale Spectacular, showcasing competitions and heritage displays.
New for 2026, the event introduces Miniature Highland Cows from Northview Highlands and donkeys from Wyllie Donkey Stud, adding a charming new dimension to the festivities. Visitors can enjoy petting these animals and capturing memorable photos.
The event coincides with the Scenic Rim Eat Local Month, featuring a special menu crafted by Ambassador Chef Josh Lopez. His creations highlight the region’s culinary delights and offer a true taste of local flavors.
The programme is packed with immersive experiences and entertainment. Attendees can witness Australian Light Horse displays, blacksmithing demonstrations, and traditional Scottish cultural activities such as caber tossing and the Calling of the Clans.
Adding to the excitement, the Friesian performance troupe will captivate audiences with their skillful displays. Meanwhile, carriage rides and heavy horse harness classes provide further insights into the world of these majestic animals.
The Scenic Rim Clydesdale Spectacular is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland. This partnership underscores the event’s significance within the region and its contribution to local tourism.
