Industry Veteran to Lead Financial Operations
Smartsheet has appointed Josh Schauer as its Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately. Schauer will oversee the financial operations of the company from its headquarters in Bellevue, Washington. This appointment is a strategic move as Smartsheet aims to strengthen its financial operations and accelerate growth.
Schauer brings extensive financial expertise to Smartsheet, having previously served as CFO at insightsoftware. His experience also includes significant roles at Longview Solutions and Verisae, where he honed his skills in financial management and strategic planning.
CEO Rajeev Singh welcomed Schauer, stating, "Josh is joining Smartsheet at a pivotal moment, and I couldn't be more excited to welcome him to the team. His financial expertise and tech industry background make him the ideal partner for the leadership team as we transform our business and invest boldly in enterprise AI to fuel our next phase of growth."
Schauer's Role in AI Growth
As CFO, Schauer's responsibilities include developing an operational model to ensure Smartsheet's financial strength and driving the company's investment in AI capabilities. Smartsheet aims to enhance its Enterprise AI-powered work platform, which is personalized, context-aware, and compounds in value as it gains experience with work patterns.
According to Schauer, "There are only a handful of enterprise software companies with 120,000 customers, a global and growing presence, and more than $1 billion in annual recurring revenue, and Smartsheet is positioned to build on that foundation and deliver sustained growth for customers in Enterprise AI."
In addition to Schauer's appointment, Smartsheet's leadership team has expanded. Robson Grieve has joined as Chief Marketing Officer, Toyan Espeut as Chief Customer Officer, Kelsi McDonald Harris as Chief Business Officer, and Pratima Arora has taken on an expanded role as Chief Product and Technology Officer.
Schauer takes over from Kurt Shintaffer, who has been acting CFO since July 2025. His leadership is expected to contribute significantly to Smartsheet's strategic goals and financial performance. As the company accelerates its investments in AI, Schauer's background in leading financial operations will be central to their success.
Schauer's appointment is part of Smartsheet's broader strategy to integrate AI into its offerings, leveraging deep customer relationships and proven workflows. The company views this as critical for making AI useful in the enterprise, ensuring that teams can connect their own tools and deploy AI agents effectively.
