Diablo widens Utah targets before maiden North Star drilling
Diablo Resources has expanded exploration at its Star Range Project in Utah after new soil sampling pushed the South Star silver-antimony trend beyond 3,000 metres and outlined a separate copper target at East Star.
Latest sampling extended the South Star anomaly by about 1,400 metres to the northeast. As a result, the prospective trend now covers more than 3,000 metres when combined with earlier results.
At South Star, historical workings contain silica-carbonate veins and breccia zones. Earlier rock-chip sampling there returned up to 534 grams per tonne silver and 0.19% antimony.
Instead of drilling, Diablo used the new soil data to trace broader mineralised trends. The larger footprint gives the company more ground for infill sampling, geological mapping and structural interpretation before it defines drill targets.
East Star copper anomaly
Meanwhile, first-pass work at East Star outlined a coherent copper-in-soil anomaly measuring about 400 metres by 200 metres. That anomaly sits near historical workings and along a northwest-trending structural corridor that remains open to the south.
Previous rock-chip sampling at East Star returned several grades above 3% copper, including a peak result of 7.39% copper. Soil results also showed silver anomalism, supporting Diablo’s view that Star Range hosts a zoned system with multiple metals.
The latest programme comprised 73 soil samples collected on an approximate 200-metre by 100-metre grid. The work tested extensions of known mineralised trends and provided initial coverage over outcropping skarn-style mineralisation at East Star.
Site preparations are underway at North Star for Diablo’s first diamond drilling campaign at Star Range. However, no drilling formed part of the latest sampling programme, and the current results remain early-stage soil geochemistry rather than drilling evidence.
Chief executive Lyle Thorne said the results had continued to expand Diablo’s exploration pipeline at Star Range, with South Star now hosting an anomaly longer than 3,000 metres and East Star defining a copper target linked to historical workings.
On 21 July 2026, Diablo also highlighted a busy period ahead across its Utah portfolio. The company recently completed a $3.5 million placement to fund a drilling-led exploration phase and is progressing the acquisition of an 80% interest in the Horn Silver Project.
