Sydney Event Venue Moved to Mrs Macquarie’s Point

Notable Speakers Remain Unchanged

The significant event originally planned for a different location in Sydney has now been rescheduled to take place at Mrs Macquarie’s Point. It is set for 11am on 8 April 2026. This change of venue aims to accommodate a larger audience and provide a scenic backdrop for the event.

Speakers for the event include notable figures such as Jayden Kitchener-Waters, a Gomeroi and Ngiyampaa singer/songwriter, and Ethan Floyd, a Wiradjuri, Ngiyampaa, and Wailwan activist who is also a student at the University of Sydney. Sue Higginson, a Greens Member of the NSW Legislative Council, and Sheikh Wesam Charkawi from the Muslim community in Western Sydney will also be speaking at the event. Clementine Ford, an author and social commentator, will bring her perspective to the gathering.

The event forms part of a larger mission involving 17 diverse Australian participants who have already departed for Spain and Italy. Their goal is to prepare 100 boats that will carry 500 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Gaza, in an effort to break the naval blockade that has been in place since 2007. Children in Gaza face dire conditions as food, medicine, and essential supplies are blocked by Israel.

Among these participants are former defence mechanics, a doctor, a Jewish supporter of Palestinians, academics, and lawyers. Their diverse backgrounds highlight the broad support for the mission, which aims to deliver essential supplies to the people of Gaza.

Since a ceasefire was announced five months ago, the situation in Gaza remains dire, with continual bombardments resulting in over 680 deaths. This week, Israel’s parliament passed death penalty legislation targeting Palestinians exclusively, which Amnesty International described as “another discriminatory tool in Israel’s system of apartheid.”

As a result, civilians worldwide are compelled to act by sailing for peace to demand an end to the violence. The flotilla represents a call for the international community to reconsider their support for Israel’s actions and focus on humanitarian aid.

Jane Salmon serves as the media liaison for the Australian delegation. She is available to connect media representatives with the flotilla’s participants and spokespeople. For more information, she can be contacted at 0417919354.
