Seminar Details
“For most of us, most of the time, Australia is a great place to live,” said AHRC President Hugh de Kretser. “But despite our nation’s wealth, many people are struggling. It’s in everyone’s interest to protect human rights.”
Mia Zahra from ADNSW emphasised, “Now more than ever, we need to strengthen our commitment to preventing discrimination. This is a not-to-be-missed event for anyone with an interest in human rights, social justice, and anti-discrimination.”
The seminar will be held on 17th June from 5pm to 7pm at 182 Church St, Parramatta. Admission is free, and those interested are encouraged to register online to secure their participation.
The event is part of the AHRC’s national programme celebrating its 40th anniversary as the national human rights institution. Discussions will include revitalizing Australia’s commitment to human rights both at the national level and within New South Wales.
Light refreshments will be provided, making it a conducive environment for networking and further discussion among participants passionate about human rights and social change.
The seminar aims to highlight how stronger human rights protections can address issues from fraying social cohesion to housing affordability. By focusing on equality, freedom, and dignity, the event seeks to inspire action and commitment from both the Australian and NSW governments.
