2026 Campaign Focuses on Fundraising and Awareness

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) has announced a renewed partnership with the Mark Hughes Foundation (MHF) in 2026 to raise funds and awareness for brain cancer. This collaboration aims to continue the success of their previous initiatives, which raised significant funds in 2025.

In 2025, GRNSW raised $120,000 for MHF through various initiatives, including the 'Red & Blue All November Through' campaign. This campaign will continue in 2026, encouraging community participation and engagement. The campaign involves donating $161 to MHF each time a race is won by a dog wearing red or blue rugs, symbolizing the Newcastle Knights' colors and Mark Hughes' 161 NRL games.

Mark Hughes, founder of MHF, said, "We’re incredibly proud to have Greyhound Racing NSW continuing their support of the Mark Hughes Foundation throughout 2026 for a second consecutive year. After the enormous success of last year’s campaign, it means so much to have the industry once again standing beside us in the fight against brain cancer."

Expanded Campaign Details for 2026

In addition to the 'Red & Blue All November Through' campaign, GRNSW will host other fundraising activities. These include auctions, events, and the sale of beanies during the Beanies for Brain Cancer week. In 2025, GRNSW donated $10,000 from the auction of the winning post at the final Dapto race meeting last September.

Brian Charman, GRNSW Acting CEO, emphasised the importance of the partnership by stating, "Our objective when entering the partnership with the MHF was to contribute financially and raise awareness for brain cancer. I have heard from many participants across the sport who felt that partnering with the Mark Hughes Foundation was a rewarding experience and certainly opened a lot of eyes about the fight against brain cancer."

Coinciding with Brain Cancer Awareness Month in May, the MHF will launch new beanies on 27th May, available online and in select stores. The beanies, featuring new colors, aim to support the foundation's mission and further its impact in the community.

The partnership between GRNSW and MHF showcases a united effort to combat brain cancer. By engaging the community and raising funds through innovative campaigns, they aim to provide hope and support to those affected by the disease.
