Swedish Telecom Giant Expands Digital Capabilities

On April 8, 2026, Telia, Sweden’s leading telecom operator, announced its plan to integrate the Seamless OS platform following its acquisition of the mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Telness. This strategic move aims to enhance Telia’s digital service offerings by leveraging the advanced capabilities of Seamless OS.

Martina Klingvall, Founder and CEO of Telness Tech and Nordic Communications Group, emphasised that “for Seamless OS to be brought into an MNO environment such as Telia’s is a defining moment for us.” Seamless OS was initially developed and proven within Telness, enabling it to become one of Europe’s most digitally advanced operators.

The acquisition deal includes a long-term agreement where Telness will continue using the Seamless OS technology platform. This ensures that Telness will maintain a smooth digital customer experience under Telia’s Swedish B2B business. The collaboration allows Telness to retain its strong digital-first model while benefiting from Telia’s extensive scaling and marketing capabilities.

Brand Transition and Regulatory Approval

As part of the transaction, Telia will acquire the Telness brand, and Telness Tech plans to initiate a rebranding process to change its company name and visual identity. The completion of the acquisition is subject to approval from the Swedish national authority, the Inspectorate of Strategic Products (ISP).

Pending ISP’s approval, Telia is preparing to enhance its digital services in Sweden, further solidifying its position in the B2B market. Fredrik Stenberg, Head of B2B at Telia Sweden, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that “Telness has made an impressive journey and has become a popular choice among small business owners and entrepreneurs, especially startups.”

The deal marks Telia’s role as the first mobile network operator (MNO) to deploy Seamless OS. This platform, known for its AI and automation capabilities, enables mobile operators and digital-first companies to launch and evolve mobile services efficiently.

Telness, previously operating as an MVNO on Telia’s network, will continue to operate under its own brand as part of Telia’s comprehensive telecom services. The collaboration is expected to boost Telness’s growth and strengthen Telia’s influence in the competitive Swedish telecom market.
