WageSafe’s Real-Time Compliance Model Reduces Violations

Automated Checks Identify Errors Before Payments

WageSafe Pty Ltd, based in Sydney, presented the effectiveness of its real-time wage compliance model on April 23, 2026. This technology has significantly reduced costly wage violations across various Australian industries.

Integrating seamlessly with existing payroll systems, the company’s automated platform continuously monitors wage calculations. By ensuring compliance with Australia’s complex industrial award structures, it detects discrepancies before payments are made, unlike the periodic nature of traditional audits.

“Annual or quarterly audits often uncover issues months after they occur,” stated Mark Jenkins, Chief Executive Officer of WageSafe. “By that point, businesses are already facing back payments, penalties, or reputational damage.”

Real-Time Monitoring Benefits

Since its launch, WageSafe has processed billions in payroll, analysing over one million wage records. Key sectors such as retail, financial services, and healthcare have benefited from this system, which allows for the prompt addressing of both underpayments and overpayments.

Intentional wage underpayment was criminalized in Australia starting January 2025 due to new workplace reforms. In 2024, the Fair Work Ombudsman recovered over A$500 million in unpaid wages, highlighting widespread non-compliance.

“Compliance is no longer just an annual checkbox,” Jenkins added. “Enterprises need continuous oversight to maintain accuracy, protect their workforce, and demonstrate due diligence to regulators and shareholders.”

WageSafe’s award interpretation engine translates complex industrial relations rules into actionable data. The compliance dashboard displays this information with a color-coded system: red for ‘Action Needed,’ amber for ‘Monitor,’ and green for ‘Compliant.’ This feature allows payroll and HR teams to quickly identify and address compliance issues.

As regulatory scrutiny on wage practices intensifies, businesses across Australia are increasingly adopting models like WageSafe’s. This shift enhances governance, reduces risk, and cuts costs associated with manual checks.

Founded by employment compliance specialists with over 20 years of experience, WageSafe provides real-time auditing of payroll data. It integrates directly with existing payroll and time-and-attendance systems, analysing each pay cycle against Australia’s industrial award structures to ensure accurate application of wage calculations, penalty rates, and allowances.

Continuous monitoring enables businesses to detect issues instantly, eliminating the long lag times often associated with manual reviews or external audits. WageSafe is becoming a practical alternative or complement to traditional external audits.
