Outsight's AI to Enhance Airport Operations

Aeroporti di Roma (ADR) and Outsight have announced a major expansion of their collaboration to enhance operational efficiency and passenger experience at Rome Fiumicino Airport. This large-scale deployment of Outsight’s AI technology was announced on 23rd April 2026.

Originally, Outsight deployed its technology at Rome Fiumicino through ADR’s ‘Runway to the Future’ innovation program. Following a successful initial phase that delivered tangible benefits in the Arrivals immigration area, Outsight’s Physical AI solution will now be implemented across nearly all common-use areas within the Schengen zone.

This expanded deployment transforms real-time Lidar data into actionable insights on people flows, queue formation, and congestion patterns. This transformation provides ADR with an end-to-end view of the passenger journey, enabling more agile resource allocation and data-driven process re-engineering.

As Emanuele Calà, Senior Vice President Transformation and Technology at ADR, stated, “At Aeroporti di Roma, we see innovation as a practical lever to continuously improve operations, service quality, and the passenger journey.” This expansion supports ADR’s goal of predictive, AI-driven airport operations. It lays the digital foundation for Agentic AI-driven operations, allowing the airport to operate more intelligently and efficiently.

Raul Bravo, President and Co-Founder of Outsight, remarked, “We are proud to deepen our relationship with one of the world’s most innovative airport operators. Moving from a successful pilot to a full-scale deployment is a powerful validation of our Spatial Intelligence platform.”

This large-scale deployment signals ADR’s confidence not only in Outsight’s Spatial Intelligence platform but also in the broader potential of combining LiDAR, advanced analytics, and artificial intelligence to shape the next generation of airport management systems. The initiative will drive continued optimization of the technology within the unique complexities of a major international hub like Rome Fiumicino.

Managed by ADR, Rome Fiumicino Airport is one of two European hubs with a 5-Star Skytrax rating. The Airports Council International recognised it as Europe’s Best Airport for Service Quality in 2025. In 2025, the airport welcomed 50 million passengers, showcasing its capacity as a major international hub. This achievement underscores the importance of embracing cutting-edge technology to enhance passenger experience and operational efficiency.

Outsight, known for its leading Spatial Intelligence solutions based on Physical AI and 3D Lidar data, continues to play a vital role in shaping the future of airport management. The collaboration between ADR and Outsight represents a significant step forward in leveraging AI and real-time data to improve the overall airport experience.
