Australian preschool hit adds PlayKids global rollout

Queensland-based Fade In Studio and Tiny Souls Media have secured new international deals for Zip and the Tiny Sprouts, including an Australian launch on ABC Kids and a global SVOD rollout on PlayKids Learning.

The companies announced the deals in Brisbane, Queensland, on 22 July 2026. WildBrain distributes the digital-first preschool series.

Zip and the Tiny Sprouts has 52 episodes, each running for seven minutes. Fade In Studio wrote, directed and animated the show through its 2D division, K Love You Bye.

Tiny Souls Media created and produced the series with Fade In Studio. The partners built it for preschool children and based it on developmental psychology research.

Screen Queensland and Screen Australia backed the project and the studio. That support helped keep the production in Australia and lift local talent onto the global stage.

International Emmy Award-winning producer Peter Johnston led the creative execution. He oversaw writing, directing and animation with his Queensland team.

YouTube audience and 2025 Kidscreen Award

Originally, the series launched on YouTube before moving to broadcast and subscription streaming. Within months, it reached millions of views and hundreds of thousands of subscribers.

That early audience was followed by industry recognition in 2025. The show won a 2025 Kidscreen Award and received an AWGIE nomination, while the briefing also cites multiple Australian Writers Guild nominations.

Johnston described the production as “an absolute labour of love” for Fade In Studio and its Australian crew. He also called the ABC Kids launch “a dream realised.”

In Harmony Hollow, the main characters are Zip, Aria, Riff and Hum. Their stories cover resilience, patience and gratitude through storytelling and original music.

Tiny Souls Media founder and chief creative officer Shadi Toloui-Wallace worked on the series with head of development and production Lacey Mason and head of research and curriculum Zachary Stuckelman, Ph.D. Those credits were included in the source briefing.

Later in 2026, ABC Kids will add the Australian-made series locally, while PlayKids Learning will carry it globally. As a result, the Queensland production will reach audiences at home and overseas.
