Move covers claims, payments and provider management
Accident Compensation Corporation has completed the migration of its core claims, payments and provider functions to the FINEOS Platform in the Cloud.
FINEOS Corporation trades on the ASX as FCL.
After the move, ACC runs its core business on the FINEOS Platform in the Cloud instead of an on-premise system. The programme finished on schedule with minimal disruption.
Across New Zealand, ACC supports people affected by personal injury. It handles about 2 million accepted injury claims each year from around 1.6 million New Zealanders.
Each year, ACC pays more than NZ$2.5 billion in income support, or weekly compensation. It also pays more than NZ$4.5 billion for rehabilitation and treatment services.

Provider management moved with claims and payments in the same project. As a result, ACC now operates those functions on a modern cloud platform built for scale and resilience.
According to FINEOS, the migration marks a major transformation for both organisations. The company framed the result as a way to strengthen long-term support for New Zealanders after personal injury.
Michael Kelly, chief executive of FINEOS, called the project a landmark for both organisations. He said moving a national system of this scale to the cloud was a significant task.
Kelly added that the work was delivered smoothly and efficiently. In his view, the new platform supports current needs and can evolve over time.
At ACC, Head of Technology Campbell Mackie pointed to the length of the programme. He said teams across the business worked on it for more than two years.
Mackie said: “Running our core business on a modern, scalable cloud platform gives us a stronger, more resilient foundation and sets ACC for the future.”
With the migration complete, ACC can use cloud services designed for greater agility, scalability and continuous updates. Those features matter at a scheme handling millions of claims and billions of dollars in annual payments.
Because claims, payments and provider functions were modernised together, ACC is better placed to respond to changing needs. FINEOS argues the platform will help the agency keep delivering high-quality outcomes.
For FINEOS, the project adds a large government reference in New Zealand. It also supports the company’s case that it can deliver mission-critical transformation programmes for government and insurance organisations worldwide.
ACC is a Crown entity established under the Accident Compensation Act 2001. It delivers New Zealand’s accident insurance scheme, which provides no-fault personal injury cover for people in New Zealand, including overseas visitors.
