Strategic Changes in Asia Operations
Ares Management Corporation, a prominent global alternative investment manager listed on the NYSE as ARES, has announced significant changes in its leadership team for Asia Credit. E.G. Morse will join the firm as Partner and Head of Asia Credit. He previously served as Co-Head of China and Head of China Global Markets at Goldman Sachs, where he worked for 16 years in various global leadership roles. Mr. Morse will assume his new position at Ares in Hong Kong on April 9, 2026.
Describing his new role, Mr. Morse noted, “I’m honored to join a firm of Ares’ global stature and to work alongside a high-caliber team as we continue to build and scale the platform across Asia.” Prior to joining Ares, he was based in New York, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Shanghai.
In addition to Mr. Morse’s appointment, Ares has promoted Dinesh Goel and Gabriel Fong to Co-Heads of the Asia Special Situations strategy. Their new roles are effective immediately, and they will collaborate closely with Ares Credit leadership to expand the strategy across the Asia-Pacific region.
Edwin Wong, who has been instrumental in the growth of Ares’ Asia Credit business, will retire on June 30, 2026. During his tenure, he led the business to manage approximately $11.5 billion in assets as of December 31, 2025. Mr. Wong stated, “I am incredibly proud to have led the Asia Credit team’s growth journey over the years.”
Mr. Goel and Mr. Fong expressed their excitement about their new roles, saying, “We’re excited for the opportunity to co-lead the Asia Special Situations strategy and to build on the strong foundation that has been established.” They are committed to delivering innovative solutions for Ares’ limited partners.
Peter Graf will maintain his role in leading Ares’ direct lending strategy in Asia, ensuring continuity in the firm’s investment approach. The Asia Credit business covers credit-focused special situations, sponsored and non-sponsored direct lending, and asset-backed finance.
The appointment of Mr. Morse, along with the promotions of Mr. Goel and Mr. Fong, signifies Ares’ commitment to strengthening its leadership team in the Asia-Pacific region. This strategic expansion is set to maintain the firm’s position as a leader in alternative investments.
