AI Transforms Decision-Making in Supply Chains

In May 2026, AstraZeneca and OMP will present their cutting-edge AI-driven supply chain strategies at the Gartner Supply Chain Symposium/Xpo™ in Barcelona. This event, occurring from the 18th to the 20th of May, highlights the innovative use of OMP's Unison Planning™ platform by AstraZeneca to enhance decision-making capabilities.

As Diane Gorman, Network Supply Planner at AstraZeneca, steps onto the Gartner stage, she will discuss the company's evolution from traditional spreadsheet-based methods to an integrated, capacity-aware planning approach. This transformation aims to improve visibility into constraints and strengthen outcomes in campaign management, capacity planning, and scheduling.

Gorman will address critical topics such as driving user adoption across complex organisations, evolving planner roles with system support, and strategies for preparing for AI-enabled decision support. These insights are part of AstraZeneca's broader journey toward a more decision-centric planning model.

By integrating AI into their operations, AstraZeneca enhances its ability to adapt to constantly changing supply chain demands. Through the symposium, AstraZeneca will showcase how it prepares for the next phase of AI-enabled decision support, demonstrating the tangible benefits of this integration.

OMP’s Session on Decision Velocity

OMP will host a theatre panel on May 19th, featuring industry experts such as Jack Eggels, former VP of Supply Chain at Shell, Tom Wouters, Chief Product Officer at OMP, and Philip Vervloesem, OMP's Chief Commercial & Markets Officer. This session will explore the shift from calendar-driven to event-driven intelligence, highlighting the role of UnisonIQ in enhancing human-AI collaboration.

Attendees will learn about the real-world application of decision velocity as an operational capability, with UnisonIQ coordinating human and AI efforts. The session will provide insights into how organisations can transition from traditional planning to more dynamic, event-driven processes.

Throughout the symposium, OMP will demonstrate its Unison Planning™ and UnisonIQ technologies at booth 310. Attendees can discover the benefits of integrated planning enhanced by AI advancements, enabling faster scenario evaluation, improved collaboration, and measurable business results. The booth will provide live demonstrations of how these technologies drive stronger supply chain outcomes.

The session titled 'AstraZeneca's Journey to Decision-Centric Autonomous Planning' is scheduled for May 18th, from 11:45 to 12:15 CEST, at the International Barcelona Convention Center. Participants can register for this session through the event's official channels to gain firsthand insight into AstraZeneca's supply chain evolution.

During the Gartner Supply Chain Symposium/Xpo, OMP will engage with stakeholders and demonstrate how Unison Planning™ and UnisonIQ support organisations in moving toward always-on supply chain orchestration. Participants can explore how integrated planning, enhanced by AI, drives business results and fosters stronger collaboration.
