Expands Utah Silver-Antimony Footprint

On May 7, 2026, Diablo Resources Limited announced its acquisition of an 80% interest in the Horn Silver Project located in Utah, USA. This strategic move enhances Diablo’s presence in a highly productive silver-antimony district, marking a significant expansion in their exploration footprint.

Historically, the Horn Silver Mine has been a major producer, yielding approximately 17 million ounces of silver and 30,000 ounces of gold. Mineralization at this site remains open both at depth and along strike, with several high-priority drill-ready targets already identified, offering immediate opportunities for further exploration.

Located just 15 kilometers from Diablo’s existing Star Range Silver-Antimony Project, the new acquisition allows the company to consolidate its district-scale exploration efforts. This strategic location is crucial as it lies within a historically significant and underexplored mineral system.

Lyle Thorne, CEO of Diablo Resources, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “Securing a high-grade historic mine with immediate drill-ready targets provides clear potential for expansion.” Rock sampling has confirmed a district-scale silver-antimony system with results showing up to 1,310 grams per ton of silver and 0.2% antimony.

Strategic Importance and Next Steps

Interest in US-based critical minerals projects has surged, particularly for silver, antimony, and copper. These commodities are vital for energy security, industrial applications, and defence supply chains. Diablo Resources plans to raise A$3.5 million through a placement to sophisticated investors and existing shareholders. The funds will support exploration activities at both the Horn Silver and Star Range Projects, with the first tranche expected to settle around May 12, 2026.

In terms of exploration, Diablo aims to commence drilling programmes soon, focusing on multiple high-priority targets. Planned activities include drilling of near-mine targets at Horn Silver and testing geophysical targets in the Star Range Project. The entire project spans approximately 13.2 square kilometers across 201 claims, including 101 patented claims. Untested induced polarization (IP) anomalies coincide with known mineralization, presenting additional exploration opportunities.

Utah, recently ranked as the top mining jurisdiction globally by the Fraser Institute’s Annual Survey of Mining Companies, supports Diablo’s exploration initiatives. The acquisition of the Horn Silver Project not only secures a high-grade historic mine but also aligns with the growing global interest in strategically important, US-based projects.
