Significant Copper Discovery in Mount Isa

Austral Resources Australia Ltd has made a notable discovery at its Snow Queen Prospect, located in Queensland’s Mount Isa district. The initial drillhole intersected 10 meters at an impressive 7.52% copper, featuring a remarkable 4 meters at 15.98% copper. This discovery marks Austral’s successful exploration strategy aimed at enhancing copper production significantly.

With aspirations to produce 50,000 tonnes of copper annually, Austral is pushing forward with its ambitious plans. The Chief Operating Officer, Shane O’Connell, stated, “This result clearly demonstrates Austral’s ability to generate and drill high-quality copper targets within our tenure. Snow Queen is part of a broader portfolio supporting our strategy of building regional scale around the Rocklands Processing Facility.”

Strategic Location and Infrastructure

Situated just 60 kilometers from the Rocklands Processing Facility and only 2 kilometers from the Barkly Highway, the Snow Queen site benefits from existing infrastructure. This strategic location enables Austral to reduce the time from discovery to production while minimizing development costs effectively.

Austral’s plans include testing 35 historical copper workings over the next 12 to 18 months. Recent surface sampling in nearby areas has shown high copper and gold grades, indicating further potential in the region. The focus remains on copper grades, but assays for gold, silver, and other minerals from the initial drillhole are anticipated soon. Results from upcoming drillholes are expected within two to four weeks.

The company has set a target to conduct over 20,000 meters of drilling in 2026, aiming to expand resources at Rocklands and other key prospects. Shareholders will receive continual updates on progress and findings. Exceptional grades found in the initial drillhole at Snow Queen exceed the global average of copper deposits, highlighting the potential of this project. As the geochemical anomaly remains open to the west-north-west, further exploration could unveil significant resources.

Austral Resources distinguishes itself from typical junior explorers by being fully funded and focusing on both discovery and practical development pathways. This approach ensures efficient integration of new resources into existing operations.
