Australian Open celebrations take over Riverland Bar
Melbourne’s summer calendar hits peak energy when the Australian Open returns, and Riverland Bar is once again positioning itself as a prime riverside destination for tennis fans.
With the Australian Open running from 12th January to 1st February 2026, the venue is preparing for two weeks of live match screenings, post-match celebrations, themed drinks, and all-day atmosphere along the Yarra River. Meanwhile, its central location beneath Federation Square places it just minutes from Melbourne Park, making it an easy stop before or after matches.

A riverside hub for Australian Open fans
Each summer, the Australian Open transforms the city, and Riverland Bar has become a reliable gathering point for fans who want to stay close to the action without heading inside the stadium. Last year, thousands of visitors passed through the venue during the tournament period, reinforcing its reputation as one of Melbourne’s most popular AO hotspots.
In addition, open-air seating and uninterrupted skyline views give the venue a relaxed but high-energy feel throughout the day. Even when fans are not courtside, the atmosphere stays firmly tied to the tournament.
Riverland Bar Venue Manager Craig Fleeton said the Australian Open creates one of the most exciting periods on Melbourne’s social calendar.
“The AO brings an incredible buzz to the city, and we’ve created the ideal riverside spot for fans to gather, whether it’s for a drink before heading to Melbourne Park, kicking back to watch a match live on our big screen, or celebrating a big win after play,” Craig said.

Aperol menus and summer pop-ups
This season, Riverland Bar is again partnering with Aperol Spritz to deliver a tournament-ready drinks menu designed for long afternoons and post-match catch-ups.
The summer Aperol menu includes the classic spritz alongside two creative Aperol-based cocktail twists. Meanwhile, the Aperidisco pop-up returns as a dedicated space for dancing, drinks, and late-afternoon celebrations by the river.
“Guests can keep the fun going with our Aperidisco pop-up – the perfect spot for a dance and bevvy in the sun after a big day of tennis watching. We’ll also be serving up limited edition Loaded Italian Chips to satisfy cravings and pair perfectly with an Aperol spritz, Aperol Collins or Aperol Margarita,” Craig said.

Live screenings, DJs and crowd favourites
Throughout the tournament, key matches will be shown on Riverland’s outdoor big screen, catering to after-work crowds, daytime viewers, and weekend sessions. As a result, fans can plan their visit around major match times without heading into Melbourne Park.
In addition, DJs will play every Thursday to Saturday to maintain energy from the afternoon through to the evening. Food options will include crowd favourites such as pizza, burgers and parmas, making the venue suitable for both casual drop-ins and longer stays.
“We want everyone to feel part of the action, no matter where their seats are. Riverland is all about great views, great drinks and great energy,” Craig said.
Whether visitors are settling in for a full match or stopping by between sets, Riverland Bar continues to offer a flexible, social alternative to the stadium experience during the Australian Open.
Bookings are strongly encouraged throughout the tournament period, while walk-ins will be accepted when space allows.
