Biggest Morning Tea Returns on 21st May 2026

Biggest Morning Tea Targets $17 Million as Registrations Open Nationwide

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea will return on Thursday, 21st May 2026, with registrations now open nationwide. Cancer Council confirmed it aims to raise more than $17 million through the annual fundraiser, which supports cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support services.

The event, established in 1993, has raised over $200 million through tens of thousands of community-hosted morning teas. Participants can host events at any time across May and June, although 21st May remains the official day.

“Since 1993, Australians have hosted tens of thousands of morning teas, raising over $200 million for vital cancer research, prevention, support, and advocacy programs,” said Naomi Watson, Cancer Council NSW Director of Marketing and Fundraising.

“This year, we’re aiming even higher. We want workplaces, sports teams, families, friends, and communities to come together and help us raise more than $17 million. From a casual catch-up with friends, a family brunch, a neighbourhood get-together, or a large-scale workplace event, every morning tea matters.”

Cancer Council data indicates that one Australian receives a cancer diagnosis approximately every five minutes. Additionally, almost one in two Australians will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85.

More than 169,500 Australians were diagnosed with cancer last year, equating to over 460 cases per day. Meanwhile, over 1.4 million Australians have either survived a diagnosis or are currently living with cancer.

Funds raised through Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea support research initiatives and frontline services. For example, $10 can connect someone newly diagnosed with cancer to trusted online support and resources. Similarly, $100 can fund up to two hours of research assistant work on cancer studies.

Larger donations contribute to laboratory testing, scholarships and community screening programs. For instance, $1,000 can assist with analysing two gene samples or help 15 people access the 13 11 20 support service. Furthermore, $5,000 can contribute to high-quality cancer research or support year-long lab projects.
