Event to Boost Awareness and Funds
The Brisbane Memory Walk & Jog is happening on 14th June at Rocks Riverside Park. This annual event is Dementia Australia's largest fundraising initiative.
More than 88,200 people in Queensland are living with dementia, making this event crucial. Dementia is the leading cause of death in Australia, and by 2065, the number of Australians with dementia could exceed one million.
Takaya Honda and Jim Rogers will emcee the event, which promises a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. Open to all ages and abilities, it creates a welcoming space for connection and sharing stories.
Fourteen Memory Walk & Jog events are planned across Australia in 2026, offering many opportunities for involvement. People unable to attend can organize a 'MyWay' event by choosing their own date and location.
Funds raised will support Dementia Australia's essential services and research initiatives. This effort aims to work towards a future where dementia no longer impacts Australian families.
Participants can find more information or register at memorywalk.com.au. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up to assist during the event.
Dementia Australia serves as a trusted source of information, education, and services for the 446,500 Australians living with dementia. It also supports the 1.7 million people involved in their care. The organisation advocates for positive change and supports vital research.
The increasing number of Australians impacted by dementia makes raising funds and encouraging everyone to get active for brain health more important than ever. Join the Memory Walk & Jog to make a difference.
For support, contact the National Dementia Helpline at 1800 100 500. An interpreter service is available. The helpline is funded by the Australian Government.
