First Gold Pour Achieved in Argentina

On 2nd June 2026, Challenger Gold Limited officially transitioned from explorer to producer with its first gold pour at the Hualilán Gold Project in San Juan, Argentina. The initial pour produced approximately 200 kilograms of doré, containing an estimated 500 ounces of gold and 6,000 ounces of silver. Austral Gold’s Casposo plant processed this under a toll agreement.

The production milestone marks Challenger’s first non-dilutive operating cash flow since its listing, enhancing its financial position before planned large-scale development. Guaranteed toll treatment capacity for 450,000 tonnes over three years supports this transition to higher-grade ore, aiming to improve recoveries. The project boasts a 2.8Moz AuEq Mineral Resource, with a post-tax NPV estimated at US$1.1 billion.

Accelerating Development and Drilling

Challenger is expediting mining activities at the Magnata pit, with the first production blast completed ahead of schedule. Aggressive drilling programmes continue, targeting resource expansion and increasing the project’s potential. The recent Pre-Feasibility Study indicates a forecast post-tax free cashflow of US$1.98 billion from Hualilán, underscoring the project’s financial viability.

Chairman Eduardo Elsztain expressed gratitude to local authorities, stating, “We wish to formally acknowledge and thank the San Juan Government, particularly Mr. Marcelo Orrego, the Governor of San Juan, and Mr. Juan Pablo Perea, the Mining Minister, for their invaluable support.”

Managing Director and CEO Kris Knauer highlighted the dedication of the on-site team and the support of the San Juan community in achieving this milestone. Following the initial success, Challenger plans to further its exploration activities.

Further updates will be provided after the reconciliation of the initial processing campaign, which will include detailed production metrics and sales data. This information will assist in assessing the project’s performance and future prospects.
