Bulls Showcase Diverse International Squad

The Chennai Bulls have arrived in Hong Kong to compete in the 40th anniversary of the Tradition HKFC 10s, an esteemed rugby invitational hosted at the Hong Kong Football Club from 16th April 2026. This tournament marks a significant milestone with its three-day format and coincides with the Hong Kong Sevens week.

Elite clubs and representative sides from around the world are participating in the tournament. As reigning champions of the Indian Rugby Premier League, the Chennai Bulls are proudly representing Indian rugby on the international stage. This event is crucial for the Bulls as they continue their landmark international season.

The Bulls’ squad for the HKFC 10s includes 18 players from India, Australia, Fiji, and the Pacific Islands. Notably, Nathaniel Gallagher, Luke Megson, and Brodie Mainwaring have joined the team from the Australian Super Rugby side Western Force, emphasizing the high caliber of athletes now representing Indian rugby.

Nikolas and Rocco Gollings also bring a compelling family dimension to the team. They play under the guidance of their father, head coach Ben Gollings, who has a decorated history in rugby sevens. Gollings, who previously served as the head coach of the Fiji Sevens, led them to a World Cup title in 2022.

A New Chapter for Indian Rugby

The Chennai Bulls are owned by the AvidSys Group, an Australian-Indian conglomerate dedicated to advancing rugby in India. The group’s acquisition of a women’s team highlights its commitment to promoting equal opportunities within the sport. This ownership underscores their dedication to fostering rugby talent in India.

Monika Sharma, owner of AvidSys Group, expressed pride in the team's participation. She stated, “To have our players on the field at the HKFC 10s in its 40th anniversary year is a proud moment for everyone at the Chennai Bulls.”

Following the HKFC 10s, the Chennai Bulls will return to India for the second season of the Rugby Premier League. This season is scheduled from 16th to 28th June 2026, with matches to be broadcasted live on Star Sports, JioHotstar, and Rugby Pass TV. The Bulls are eager to continue showcasing their skills and advancing Indian rugby.

Head coach Ben Gollings is celebrated as one of the most decorated individuals in rugby sevens history. As a former England Sevens captain, he participated in 70 international tournaments and retired as the all-time leading points scorer in World Rugby Sevens Series history, accumulating 2,652 career points.
