RACE for 2030 invites energy sector leaders to participate
SYDNEY — RACE for 2030 has confirmed the dates for the Consumer Grid Summit 2026, set to take place on June 24-25 in Sydney. The initiative invites current and emerging leaders in the energy sector to contribute to shaping the future of Australia’s electricity system.
The summit aims to gather leaders from industry, government, research, and consumer advocacy to discuss practical solutions for navigating Australia’s energy transition, according to the organisation. Prior to the summit, a series of online Grid Transformation Masterclasses will occur from May to June. Up to 100 participants will be selected for these sessions, which are designed to enhance leadership capabilities and foster cross-sector networks.
Bill Lilley, CEO of RACE for 2030, emphasised the importance of collaboration in the energy sector. “The energy transition is happening in real-time, and while technology and consumer uptake are progressing, alignment is crucial,” Lilley said. He stressed the need for emerging leaders to work alongside established decision-makers to drive the sector forward.
Building Future Energy Leaders
The initiative underscores the necessity of developing new leadership capable of adapting to rapid changes in the energy landscape. Lilley pointed out that the current pace of change requires institutions to evolve more quickly than they were designed to. “By integrating fresh perspectives with institutional knowledge, new solutions can emerge,” he added.
The announcement comes as the energy sector faces increasing challenges to maximise the potential of new systems while ensuring equitable benefits. The summit aims to create a collaborative vision for a cleaner, more affordable electricity system in Australia, complementing existing policies and frameworks.
Expressions of interest are open for those eager to participate in the summit and masterclasses, with further information available on the RACE for 2030 website.
