Drilling Reveals Significant Underground Potential
High-grade gold intercepts have been reported by New Murchison Gold Limited (ASX: NMG) at the Crown Prince Gold Mine. These findings suggest strong potential for underground development. Intercepts were announced on 23rd April 2026.
Recent diamond and RC drilling results have confirmed the extension of high-grade mineralisation beneath the current pit. This highlights the growth potential of the Crown Prince system. Hole NGGRCDD1184 revealed the deepest ore-grade mineralisation to date—3.2m at 48.9g/t Au from 330m, including 0.35m at 345.5g/t Au.
Located approximately 190m below the pit’s current base, this intercept lies outside the existing resource envelope. This suggests significant resource expansion potential. Additional high-grade zones were found at various depths, such as 13m at 13.3g/t Au from 164m and 8m at 12.3g/t Au from 216m.
Drilling has discovered multiple high-grade zones across the Crown Prince system. These include 5m at 12.3g/t Au from 198m and 14m at 3.8g/t Au from 197m. The longest intercept was 20m at 1.9g/t Au from 205m, showcasing a robust and continuous mineralised system.
Underground Growth Strategy Advancing
Aiming to test mineralisation extensions at depth, the drilling programme supports a transition to underground mining. Results expand mineralisation beyond current resource limits and confirm the continuity of high-grade gold zones.
“We are pleased to report further high-grade gold intercepts at our flagship Crown Prince gold mine,” said Alex Passmore, CEO of NMG. “Operations in the open pit continue to progress well.”
Further drilling is planned to delineate mineralisation at depth. Additional diamond drilling will refine the structural model and support resource conversion. The company is working towards an updated Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve, integrating these latest results to support future underground development.
Situated 22km north-west of Meekatharra, the Crown Prince Gold Mine remains a cornerstone of NMG’s growth strategy. Production commenced in September 2025, following the first blast at the site in June 2025.
Efforts targeted extensions of the Crown Prince mineralisation at depth. These aim to evaluate the potential for future underground mining operations. Recent results provide key inputs into upcoming resource and ore reserve updates, supporting the company’s transition from open pit to underground development.
