New Service Secures European Data Transfers
EuNetworks has launched Quantum Shield, a new quantum-safe private connectivity service, to enhance data security across Europe. Announced on 27th May, the service utilises Adtran’s encrypted optical transport technology to offer robust protection for sensitive data.
Quantum Shield is designed to secure data moving between European data centers with quantum-safe encryption, along with continuous optical and fibre plant monitoring. It provides strong assurance to industries with stringent security requirements against existing and emerging cybersecurity threats.
According to Marisa Trisolino, CEO of euNetworks, "Data centre connectivity sits at the heart of our customers’ operations, particularly in environments where security and resilience are non-negotiable."
Enhanced Security Features
The Quantum Shield service integrates high-capacity dedicated infrastructure with real-time fibre monitoring and optical-layer visibility. This ensures robust protection for critical data traffic, offering Layer 1 encryption that automatically secures all data.
EuNetworks is aligning its security measures with the EU’s post-quantum cryptography roadmap targeting critical infrastructure migration by 2030. The service is built on Adtran’s FSP 3000 platform, incorporating S-Flex technology for encrypted data centre interconnect services.
Christoph Glingener, CTO of Adtran, noted, "By combining quantum-resilient encryption with real-time fibre monitoring, we’re helping euNetworks safeguard critical traffic without compromising performance or scalability."
This new service will be available as an additional security layer for euNetworks’ Private Connect MOFN solution, which provides private, managed network infrastructure. The initiative supports the EU’s increasing regulatory expectations for encryption and crypto-agility, including the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and Network and Information Security Directive 2 (NIS2).
As organisations across Europe accelerate plans to secure data in transit, the introduction of Quantum Shield comes at a crucial time. It addresses the evolving cybersecurity regulations and post-quantum security guidance, ensuring enterprises meet current and future requirements.
The deployment combines high-capacity infrastructure with enhanced optical-layer visibility to safeguard critical traffic. By integrating advanced encryption with continuous monitoring across the optical layer, euNetworks delivers the highest levels of protection for sensitive data.
