Katz to Lead Reserving and Actuarial Initiatives
The Fortegra Group, Inc., a global specialty insurer, has strengthened its actuarial leadership with the appointment of Anthony Katz as Senior Vice President, Reserving. He will lead Fortegra’s team of professional actuaries, overseeing reserving, credit insurance, statistical reporting, and significant initiatives like IFRS 17. This appointment is part of Fortegra’s ongoing efforts to bolster its actuarial capabilities significantly.
With more than 30 years of actuarial expertise, Anthony Katz, a credentialed actuary holding FCAS, FSA, and MAAA designations, joins Fortegra. His extensive background includes leadership roles at major firms such as ToaRe, Everest Re, Arch Insurance, Ernst & Young, and ACE. As a result, his experience is expected to bring valuable insights to Fortegra’s operations.

Background and Experience
Throughout his career, Katz has been recognised for modernizing actuarial operations. This includes automating reserving processes and deploying business intelligence tools on insurance and reinsurance platforms. These innovations have made a significant impact on the efficiency of actuarial functions.
In his previous roles, he led large-scale actuarial transformation initiatives. Katz has served as an independent consulting actuary, advising on various actuarial disciplines. His leadership has been pivotal in transforming actuarial practices at several organisations.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with a Computer Science minor from New York University. His academic and professional background complements his extensive career in actuarial work, providing a strong foundation for his new role at Fortegra.
