Collaboration Aims to Enhance Vietnam's Digital

AI-ready data centers and smart city solutions in Vietnam are set to advance through a new collaboration. FPT Corporation and GS Engineering & Construction Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop these AI-ready data centers. This announcement was made on 24th April during the Vietnam-South Korea Business Forum in Hanoi, coinciding with the visit of South Korean President H.E. Lee Jae Myung.n

FPT and GS E&C aim to support Vietnam’s digital infrastructure goals by establishing large-scale data centers designed to accommodate hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise demand. Scalability, energy efficiency, and advanced cooling technologies will be key focuses in these projects.n

Ha Minh Tuan, CEO of FPT Korea, stated, “The partnership between FPT and GS E&C reflects the growing strategic alignment between Vietnam and South Korea, grounded in the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership in technology and infrastructure development.”n

GS E&C CEO Yoonhong Huh commented, “This collaboration with FPT Group represents a meaningful step toward supporting Vietnam’s digital transformation through data centre and smart city development.” He emphasised a phased approach to project development, starting with tens of megawatts and expanding with market demand.n

The MoU exchange was witnessed by ministers and senior government representatives from both Vietnam and South Korea, highlighting the importance of this partnership. Combining GS E&C’s strengths in engineering and construction with FPT’s cloud services and digital platforms, the partnership is expected to meet the rising demand for cloud services and AI workloads in Vietnam.n

Since entering the South Korean market in 2016, FPT has established itself as a trusted technology partner, offering IT services to major enterprises such as LG Electronics and Shinsegae I&C. The company has a significant presence in Seoul, Daegu, and Pangyo, with over 300 on-site experts and 2,500 offshore engineers.n

Through this cooperation, both companies aim to build mutual capabilities in data centre design and smart city infrastructure solutions. GS E&C will lead project development and execution, while collaborating closely with FPT’s ICT and digital platform capabilities.
