Rabobank Supports Regional Healthcare Initiative
Heart of Australia, in partnership with Rabobank’s Rabo Community Fund, will provide free heart health checks in Charters Towers on 12th May 2026. The mobile clinic will operate at the Charters Towers Showgrounds from 11:30 am to 5 pm.
The Heart Truck, a custom-designed health clinic on wheels, offers vital screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose levels. These screenings are crucial for assessing heart health in rural and remote communities.
Skye Ward, Rabobank’s community engagement manager, emphasised, “The Rabo Community Fund is focused on supporting meaningful grassroots initiatives that help build industry capacity, champion health and wellbeing, and strengthen the rural-urban connection.”
Heart of Australia’s mission aligns perfectly with Rabobank’s aims, as it delivers specialist healthcare services to rural and remote communities. These services are often out of reach due to distance.
Since 2022, the Rabo Community Fund has supported Heart of Australia in delivering 465 health checks in rural and regional areas, including 100 checks at the FNQ Field Days in Mareeba.
Heart of Australia, founded in 2014, has provided healthcare services to over 20,000 patients in more than 40 communities. This initiative has contributed to saving approximately 900 lives.
The seven Heart Trucks have collectively saved patients over 54 million kilometers of travel for specialist appointments, ensuring that rural and First Nations communities receive essential medical care.
Dr. Rolf Gomes, the founder of Heart of Australia, highlighted the collaboration with Rabobank, stating, “Our collaboration is a practical example of what’s possible when organisations work together to make essential health services easier to reach for country Australians.”
Residents of Charters Towers can access the walk-in service for preventative health checks, each taking approximately 15 minutes to complete. These efforts are part of Rabobank’s commitment to rural health and community support through its Rabo Community Fund.
Since its launch in 2021, the Rabo Community Fund has invested over $4 million in national and local initiatives to address key agribusiness and community challenges. Rabobank, a global cooperative founded by farmers, boasts a long history of community engagement.
Heart of Australia and Rabobank continue to demonstrate the power of collaboration in overcoming barriers to healthcare access. This partnership represents a significant step forward in bringing vital health services to underserved rural communities.
