Bike Mode opens to riders after 2.5 million downloads

Melbourne-founded fitness app INTVL has launched Bike Mode, opening its real-world territory game to cyclists for the first time.

The feature launched globally on Thursday 9th July 2026 and marked INTVL’s biggest product expansion since launch.

Road, gravel, commuter and casual cyclists can now compete in the live location-based game that previously focused on runners.

Bike Mode is free to use and works with Garmin, Wahoo, Hammerhead and COROS bike computers, plus multiple sports watches.

Cyclists and runners compete on separate maps, while walking and running remain available inside INTVL.

Since launch, INTVL has passed 2.5 million downloads across 182 countries, with users capturing more than 3.5 million territories.

Garmin, Wahoo and COROS support

The United States now accounts for 46% of INTVL’s users, while Australia represents 13.5%.

As a result, the US share is more than three times Australia’s share, despite INTVL starting in Melbourne.

INTVL turns everyday movement into a live strategy game on an interactive map, where each run, walk or ride can claim territory.

Players defend ground or steal it back by moving through the same streets and trails on the map.

Clubs, leaderboards and social features support both individual play and team competition across INTVL.

Founders Louis Phillips and Jordan Hesse built INTVL around exercise that feels social, rewarding and fun.

Phillips said, “We built INTVL because exercise shouldn’t feel like another thing on your to-do list – it should feel like a game you can’t wait to play.”

Meanwhile, INTVL does not rank participation only by speed, so any user who records an activity can join the game.

Privacy controls include public, friends-only and private profile settings, plus an anonymous mode.

According to the launch details dated Thursday 9th July 2026, INTVL never broadcasts real-time locations publicly.
