MPI clearance covers dairy and non-dairy processing sites
New Zealand has approved Synexis DHP technology for indoor pathogen control in dairy and non-dairy processing facilities, after a decision by the Ministry for Primary Industries.
Synexis, LLC announced the MPI clearance on 9 July 2026 from Overland Park, Kansas, alongside a strategic collaboration with IXOM in Auckland, New Zealand.
IXOM is a cleaning and sanitation, water treatment and industrial chemicals supplier that operates across Australia and New Zealand.
As a result of the approval, food and beverage processors in New Zealand can assess the system for use in occupied production spaces when operators follow the label directions.
MPI approved the technology for food processing environments. Synexis DHP has also received ACVM Class Determination of Exempt status under New Zealand’s Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines Act.
Together, those two approvals create a regulatory foundation for Synexis DHP across New Zealand’s food, dairy and agricultural sectors.
Dennis Doyle on MPI approval
Dennis Doyle, chief executive of Synexis, called the MPI decision a sign of rising demand for continuous approaches to indoor environmental quality.
In the company briefing, Doyle said: “This approval is about more than market access.”
Food processing facilities have long relied on cleaning and sanitation programmes to protect products, employees and consumers. However, Synexis argues microbial exposure can continue between cleaning cycles.
According to Synexis, the DHP system operates continuously in occupied spaces and reduces microbial load in the air and on surfaces 24/7/365 without disrupting normal operations.
Synexis markets the product as touchless, continuous pathogen control technology for indoor environments with persistent pathogen risk.
The company stated that processors are facing stronger food safety expectations and greater pressure to manage conditions between routine washdowns and sanitation events.
Meanwhile, the collaboration with IXOM gives Synexis a route into processors that already buy cleaning, sanitation, water treatment and industrial chemical services in Australia and New Zealand.
Following the MPI approval, Synexis and IXOM are positioning the system for both dairy and non-dairy operators rather than a single segment of the processing market.
Doyle said facilities are looking for proactive and continuous ways to support healthier indoor environments.
