Efficiency and Agility in Coffee Supply Chain

JDE Peet’s went live with OMP’s Unison Planning on April 1, 2026, enhancing its supply chain capabilities. The goal is to improve planning accuracy and reduce inventory costs. This launch marks a significant milestone in JDE Peet’s ongoing efforts to optimise its supply chain processes.

Over the past eighteen months, JDE Peet’s collaborated closely with business integrator EY and OMP’s consumer goods experts. Together, they developed a new supply chain planning framework that has already been implemented across several European markets and manufacturing units. Such collaboration is part of JDE Peet’s broader IRIS programme aimed at transforming their supply chain.

The IRIS program, which stands for Intelligent, Responsive, and Integrated Supply Chain Planning, is designed to optimise end-to-end planning processes and improve cross-functional collaboration. Its goal is to accelerate agility and improve decision-making, crucial in the increasingly competitive coffee market.

According to Abel Martinez, JDE Peet’s Global Supply Chain Director, “OMP’s Unison Planning gives us end-to-end visibility and integrates demand and supply planning, improving planning accuracy. It will help us reduce inventory, cut storage costs, and safeguard service levels. Smarter planning is enabling us to prevent waste across the business.”

With enhanced end-to-end visibility and smarter supply planning, JDE Peet’s is reducing inventory levels and cutting storage costs. These improvements are expected to enhance overall efficiency and agility in their supply chain operations.

The rollout of the IRIS programme is not just limited to technology upgrades. A cultural shift within the company focuses on creating business value through decision-centric and value-driven planning. This approach is expected to yield immediate foundational capabilities while progressively working toward more ambitious goals.

Gerwalt Stoffels, OMP’s Senior Vice President for Consumer Goods, expressed his excitement about the project, saying, “It’s great to see how focused everyone is on creating business value. This project stands out for its targeted realism, immediately delivering foundational capabilities that drive real results, then progressively working toward decision-centric and touchless planning.”

As the rollout continues, the programme will expand to include integrated business planning with advanced scenario capabilities. This expansion will progressively introduce AI-driven optimization and decision intelligence, further enhancing JDE Peet’s supply chain capabilities.

JDE Peet’s is the world’s leading pure-play coffee company, serving approximately 3,900 cups of coffee per second across more than 100 markets. Guided by their ‘Reignite the Amazing’ strategy, the company aims to maintain its leadership position while adapting to the changing market dynamics.

Completion of the IRIS program’s expansion to more markets and manufacturing units is planned by the end of 2026. This global rollout is expected to solidify JDE Peet’s position as a leader in the coffee industry, with a supply chain that is both agile and efficient.
