Mrs Mangel Artwork Supports Dementia Services
Dementia Australia has launched an online auction for the iconic Mrs Mangel portrait from the legendary Australian TV series Neighbours, running until 9am AEST on 4th May 2026.
The portrait, a memorable piece from Neighbours, was painted by the character Helen Daniels. It remained a beloved set piece for decades, capturing the attention of fans worldwide. Dr. Kaele Stokes, Executive Director at Dementia Australia, emphasised the auction's significance for fans and those impacted by dementia.
Dr. Stokes stated, "For many Australians and fans around the world, Neighbours was a part of daily life for decades. Now, fans can own an iconic piece of the show’s history while helping to support families impacted by dementia, which is the leading cause of death in Australia."
Annie Jones, who played Jane Harris, Mrs Mangel's granddaughter, donated the portrait to honour her mother who lived with dementia. She expressed her excitement about the auction: "Supporting people living with dementia, their families and carers is something I care deeply about. I also can’t wait to see the reactions from fans and see where this beloved painting ends up going."
