Esri adds Geowater and Parcels to GIS book series

Esri will debut the Power of Where Collection at the 2026 Esri User Conference in July, building on ideas from Jack Dangermond’s 2024 book The Power of Where: A Geographic Approach to the World’s Greatest Challenges.

In Redlands, California, Esri said the new collection turns that 2024 framework into books focused on real-world GIS use.

New titles in the series cover water forecasting, land records, infrastructure planning and economic development.

The books show how spatial analysis can help organisations tackle sustainability, climate resilience and governance challenges.

The first two titles are Geowater: A Geographic Approach to Water Data and Forecasting and Parcels: How Property Shapes Geography.

Jack Dangermond’s 2024 book

Dangermond’s 2024 book explored the history, philosophy and practical uses of GIS through stories, maps and insights from decades of innovation.

Now the new collection extends those ideas into applied topics that show the growing role of geographic information system technology.

Geowater examines water data integration, spatial data modelling and forecasting in a rapidly changing environment.

Meanwhile, Parcels highlights land records and parcel systems as key data for planning, infrastructure, governance and economic activity.

Together, those books show how GIS helps organisations understand systems, manage resources and plan for the future.

Dangermond said, “The geographic approach is essential to understanding and solving today’s most pressing challenges.”

He added that the collection shows how GIS connects data, people and place to support a more sustainable and resilient future.

At the 2026 Esri User Conference, Esri will feature the collection in author presentations, book signings and at the Esri Press stand.

Esri also plans to expand the collection with future titles covering additional industries and disciplines.

The Power of Where is available in paperback with ISBN 9781589486065 and a US price of $59.
