The Queensland Maroons claimed the PBR Australia Monster Energy Origin Series with a win at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on 7th June. The victory on Queensland Day secured an unbeatable 2-0 lead over the New South Wales Blues.

Queensland dominated the event with a score of 593.10 points over New South Wales’ 510.30, solidifying their series win with one round left. Mareeba’s Leith Malone scored 84.25 points on Turbo, ensuring the shield returned to Queensland.

Ethan Coster from Miriam Vale was pivotal in the Maroons’ triumph, continuing his impressive debut in the Origin Series by finishing two-from-three in qualified rides. Meanwhile, New South Wales’ Keny Roger de Oliveira achieved individual honours with a 172.10-point aggregate.

Roger de Oliveira’s ride on Alpha Blokes Warden, scoring 89.50 points, ended the bull’s undefeated streak, marking a significant highlight of the event. Stetson Nirvana from Dittmann Bucking Bulls earned the Highest Marked Bull title with 44.30 points.

PBR Australia Managing Director Glen Young praised the Queensland team, stating, “To win an Origin Series on Queensland Day in front of a packed Brisbane crowd is pretty special.” He also commended Roger de Oliveira’s milestone achievement.

Queensland Coach Jared Borghero expressed pride in the team’s performance, highlighting their determination and teamwork. The rivalry continues in Sydney’s TikTok Entertainment Centre on 1st August, where New South Wales aims for redemption.

After a nail-biting contest in Newcastle, the Maroons left no doubt about their prowess in Brisbane. With seven qualified rides, they outperformed New South Wales, who managed six. This strategic victory means that the Origin trophy returns to the Sunshine State.

Leith Malone’s ride was not just a win for the team but a personal triumph, as the young cowboy delivered under immense pressure. His performance was crucial for securing the series, sending the Brisbane crowd into rapturous celebration.
