Festival Highlights: From Alpaca Picnics to Live Concerts

Starting on 29th May, Scenic Rim Eat Local Month brings a diverse array of culinary and beverage experiences just an hour away from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Over 153 events are scheduled across the region, running throughout June.

Guests can engage in crafting their own spirits, participate in alpaca picnics, and traverse e-bike flavour trails. Tim Freedman from The Whitlams will perform during the opening weekend’s sunset session, set against the picturesque Tamborine Mountain views.

Friday, 29th May, marks the beginning of the Ride, Gather and Graze Picnic Trail. Participants can explore Tamborine Mountain on e-bikes, pausing for local tastings. The trail concludes with a picnic in Robert Sowter Park, featuring an array of regional produce.

Interactive Workshops and Evening Entertainment

On 30th May, craft spirit lovers are invited to Tamborine Mountain Distillery for a hands-on distilling workshop. Meanwhile, O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards offers an Artisan Picnic and Alpaca Experience. At the Loborn Tasting Bar, the Modern Apéritifs Cocktail Class awaits cocktail enthusiasts.

The 30th May evening features Spirit of the Mountain at Cauldron Distillery, headlined by Tim Freedman. Attendees can enjoy live music paired with distinctive cocktails and regional dishes.

The festival continues on 31st May with a Citrus Liqueur Crafting Workshop at Tamborine Mountain Distillery, allowing guests to create personalized citrus liqueurs. Beechmont Estate will host Feast in the Fields, a leisurely grazing event accompanied by local food and live music.

Scenic Rim Eat Local Month, celebrating its 15th year, is supported by the Scenic Rim Regional Council and partners. It stands as Australia’s preeminent paddock-to-plate event.

Throughout June, visitors can explore cellar doors and providores nestled in the ancient World Heritage-listed Gondwana rainforests. These trails celebrate the region’s exceptional makers, offering artisan spirits, cool-climate wines, and breathtaking mountain vistas.

The month-long festival also highlights the region’s waterfalls, walking trails, and galleries, making it a perfect winter escape. According to the festival organizers, this year promises to be the most exciting with new events and collaborations, ensuring a memorable experience for all attendees.
