Strategic Partnership Focuses on Innovative Treatment
Shilpa Biocare Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Shilpa Medicare Limited, has entered a strategic equity partnership with Gate2Brain, S.L. to advance a pioneering brain cancer therapy. The partnership was announced on 8th June 2026. Shilpa becomes a strategic shareholder and will provide CMC, manufacturing, and regulatory support for Gate2Brain's programme.
The collaboration focuses on G2B-002, Gate2Brain's leading programme that targets paediatric brain cancers such as DIPG and pGBM. These cancers have received Orphan Drug Designation from the US FDA and EMA. The use of Gate2Brain's proprietary MiniAp4 peptide shuttle significantly increases drug transport to the brain.
G2B-002 employs Gate2Brain's proprietary MiniAp4 peptide shuttle, which has demonstrated a significant increase in brain drug transport capabilities, up to 100-fold more than traditional methods. First-in-human trials are expected by the fiscal year 2028.
Market Potential and Strategic Vision
The glioblastoma market is projected to reach USD 6.48 billion by 2035, with paediatric brain tumour markets estimated at USD 2.47 billion by 2031. the DIPG market is expected to be valued at USD 1.2 billion by 2035. Gate2Brain's MiniAp4 platform extends potential across rare paediatric cancers and broader CNS categories.
