Destiny Rescue Shares Inspiring Stories
Destiny Rescue, an anti-trafficking organisation, highlights the pivotal roles women play in combating child exploitation globally. The stories of three women: Denise Jensen, Tammie Soole, and a survivor named Em, showcase leadership, advocacy, and personal triumphs.
Denise Jensen, Chief People and Culture Officer at Destiny Rescue, emphasises the importance of supporting teams involved in rescue operations. With over a decade of experience in human resources, she has cultivated an environment where staff feel empowered.
Jensen recounts a significant experience in Cambodia that spurred her commitment to anti-trafficking efforts. “They did my hair and we laughed,” Jensen said, recalling her time with young girls rescued from exploitation. “That moment changed something in me.”
Denise’s dedication was also shaped by her work across Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America. She witnessed firsthand the harsh realities of exploitation. In Cambodia, she met young girls living in a rescue home, a crucial moment in her journey.
During a visit to Nepal, Denise spent time with Destiny Rescue’s border agents. These fearless women work tirelessly to prevent trafficking at the borders. Their dedication often goes unnoticed, but their impact is immense.
Raising Awareness Through Motorsport
Motorsport enthusiast Tammie Soole uses her racing platform to raise awareness about human trafficking. After learning about Destiny Rescue, she featured their branding on her car at the 2023 Canberra Festival of Speed to spark conversations among fans.
“I wanted my car to be more than a vehicle for speed,” Soole said. “I wanted it to be a vehicle for awareness.” Her efforts have helped bring attention to the vulnerabilities faced by women and children globally.
Em, a survivor from northern Thailand, shares her journey of recovery after being rescued by Destiny Rescue. Forced into bar work as a teenager, Em is now rebuilding her life through support programmes focusing on stability and independence.
Destiny Rescue continues its mission to rescue children from sexual exploitation worldwide. The organisation ensures rescued children receive the necessary support to thrive, with a focus on education and empowerment.
Denise Jensen reflects on International Women’s Day as a chance to recognise the courageous women working on the front lines of this global issue. Their efforts are crucial in driving change and offering hope to countless children.
