Acquisition Expands Anaqua's European Presence

On April 28, 2026, Anaqua, a leader in innovation and intellectual property management technology, announced its acquisition of Patrix. This strategic move integrates nearly 400 new clients into Anaqua’s platform, thereby significantly enhancing its capabilities in the IP management sector.

Anaqua, headquartered in Boston, has been pioneering IP management technology. Its growth strategy, led by Nordic Capital, includes key acquisitions such as Patrix and the earlier purchase of RightHub in 2025. These strategic moves have bolstered Anaqua’s presence in Europe and strengthened its services for law firms.

For over thirty years, Patrix has built a solid reputation among IP professionals, serving its law firm-centric customer base through the Patricia platform. This platform is actively used by some of the largest IP law firms globally, providing them with trusted IP management solutions.

Benefits for Patrix Customers

Anaqua plans to support and further develop the Patricia platform, ensuring that Patrix customers continue to benefit from its features. In addition, these clients will gain access to Anaqua’s comprehensive global hosting, security infrastructure, advanced AI-driven workflow tools, and analytics.

According to Justin Crotty, CEO of Anaqua, the acquisition offers mutual benefits: “This combination brings to Anaqua a well-served, loyal customer base along with deep IP technology and law firm expertise.”

Anaqua is dedicated to maintaining Patrix’s renewals services without any interruption. The company provides additional flexibility to Patrix clients through its AI-native platform, equipping them with future-ready solutions to adapt to evolving needs.

Carina Roth Schramm, founder and majority owner of Patrix, expressed her confidence in Anaqua’s capacity to serve Patrix’s clients. She emphasised the cultural alignment and shared client-centric philosophy between the two organisations, ensuring that customers’ evolving needs will be adequately met.

Marks Baughan Securities LLC acted as the exclusive financial advisor to Patrix during this transaction. As clients navigate the accelerating role of AI and changes in the regulatory landscape, Anaqua aims to remain a trusted partner.

As a result of this acquisition, Anaqua not only broadens its client base but also enhances its service offerings, reinforcing its position as a leading provider in the IP management technology space.
