Significant Increase in Lithium Carbonate Resources
On May 5, 2026, Anson Resources announced a substantial upgrade to its JORC Mineral Resource estimate for the Green River Lithium Project in south-eastern Utah, USA, increasing it by 650%.
Expansion of Resource Estimates
Marked increases were recorded in the updated estimate, which includes an Indicated Resource of 183,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE), representing an 863% increase. Meanwhile, the Inferred Resource now stands at 590,000 tonnes of LCE, up by 602%. These improvements stem from new drilling data and expanded area coverage.
Focusing its resource evaluation on the Mississippian Leadville Limestone, Anson Resources benefited from the drilling results of the Bosydaba #1 and Mt Fuel-Skyline Geyser 1-25 wells. A geological consulting firm based in North America conducted the upgrade.
Drilling fluid recovery supported the upgrade, enabling lithium assays that revealed a grade of 148ppm. This finding aligns with expectations of higher grades near the Ten Mile Garben fault lines. Pressure and temperature data collected are crucial for designing the processing plant.
Bruce Richardson, Executive Chairman and CEO, emphasised, “The upgrade of the JORC Resource estimate by 650% is a significant step forward in the development of the Green River Lithium Project.” He highlighted the company’s goal of surpassing one million tonnes of LCE in their JORC Resource estimate.
Applications for additional mineral rights within the expanded Area of Interest have been submitted by Anson Resources. If successful, further increases in the JORC Resource estimate are anticipated without the need for additional exploration drilling.
The interpreted Mineral Resource estimate currently relies solely on the Mississippian Unit. Further increases are possible as the Unit remains incompletely drilled. The upgrade results from new drilling data and an expanded area, leading to a higher confidence level in the stratigraphic thickness and lithium concentration.
Additional claims, already under application, could further increase both the Indicated and Inferred Mineral Resources. The JORC Resource estimate upgrade was conducted by a third-party geological consulting company based in North America, which considered the recovery of drilling fluids in the Mississippian Units when the drilling programme at the Mt Fuel-Skyline well was suspended.
Results from Drill Stem Tests (DST) conducted in the area have also been used in the modelling work done on behalf of Anson Resources. This included brine flowing up the tubing almost to the surface due to pressure.
