First U.S. Purchase Order Secured
LibertyStream Infrastructure Partners Inc. announced the start of lithium carbonate production at Select Water Solutions in Howard County, Texas, on 9 April 2026. This milestone reflects the rapid execution of the project, which utilised prior field learnings for efficiency.
Following the receipt of its first purchase order, LibertyStream is engaged in broader offtake discussions and negotiations for a conditional offtake agreement with an American lithium carbonate customer.
According to Alex Wylie, President & CEO of LibertyStream, “We are proud of the pace of execution at Select’s site. We appreciate the confidence shown by our first customer as we work to convert our ongoing discussions into long-term offtake agreements.”
Ahead of schedule, LibertyStream’s Lithium Carbonate Operating Facility commenced production in March 2026. It is designed to produce both battery-grade and technical-grade lithium carbonate, integrating key insights from previous operations to boost performance.
The company has pre-sold its first tonne of lithium carbonate, with delivery slated for June 2026. This initial sale is part of larger discussions with a U.S. consumer of lithium carbonate aimed at establishing future agreements.
Operating Facility Details
LibertyStream is actively collecting production and operational data and plans to provide further updates as operations progress. Upon fulfilling the first purchase order, a royalty payment will be made to Select.
LibertyStream aims for an annual production capacity of 1,000 tonnes by the end of 2026, with the Select site serving as a core operating and validation platform. The company plans to derisk its scalable development model to replicate across high-volume U.S. basins, including the Permian and Bakken.
The first purchase order signifies an important milestone, transitioning LibertyStream from site deployment and systems integration into customer qualification and product sales. This order validates the company’s progress in meeting the milestones for its Texas operations.
LibertyStream anticipates that the Select site will remain central to its operations, with plans to expand its model across other regions. This strategy aims to enhance the company’s ability to meet increasing demand for lithium carbonate in the U.S. market.
