Journey in Honour of Callum and Jake Robinson

Damien Kelly, a 67-year-old cyclist, completed a remarkable 4,000km solo ride across Australia today, arriving at the Geelong Waterfront around 10am. This monumental effort was the culmination of several weeks on the road, traversing the vast landscapes of Australia.

Kelly embarked on this arduous journey from Perth on 16th March 2026. Carrying all essential gear, he navigated the physical and mental demands of this endurance feat. It was not just a personal challenge but also a tribute to Callum and Jake Robinson, two brothers who died in Mexico in 2024.

The ride's final leg through Victoria presented significant challenges, with rolling hills testing Kelly's endurance. Constant elevation changes and sustained climbs marked this section. "The last stretch was tough in a different way," Kelly said. "You go from those long, flat roads where you can settle into a rhythm, to hills that just keep coming."

Emotional Milestone at Great Ocean Road

A poignant moment occurred as Kelly reached the Great Ocean Road, marking the first sight of the ocean since Perth. After weeks of riding through inland Australia and the Nullarbor, the return to the coastline was a powerful turning point. "Seeing the water again gives you a real lift," he noted.

Throughout the ride, Kelly received support from a dedicated community, including the Australian surf ski network. This backing provided both encouragement and practical assistance, helping him along the way.

Emily Horwath and Georgia Kelly facilitated updates on social media, helping maintain public interest in Kelly's journey. Their efforts ensured that Kelly's progress was followed by many who offered words of support.

The ride supported the Callum and Jake Robinson Foundation, which aims to inspire others to "Live Bigger, Shine Brighter and Love Harder." Kelly's journey raised awareness and funds for the foundation, highlighting its mission.

The public is invited to witness the conclusion of this extraordinary journey at Geelong Waterfront, celebrating Kelly’s achievement and the cause it supports. The event promises to be a moving tribute to human perseverance and the memory of Callum and Jake.
