Riding for the Callum and Jake Robinson Foundation

Damien Kelly is set to complete his remarkable 4,000km solo cycling journey across Australia, arriving in Geelong tomorrow at approximately 10am local time. He began this arduous adventure on 16th March 2026, setting off from Perth and covering over 4,000 kilometers entirely on his own.

Kelly, 67, embarked on this coast-to-coast expedition to honour the memory of Callum and Jake Robinson, brothers who tragically lost their lives in 2024 while travelling in Mexico. This ride not only serves as a tribute but also raises awareness and support for the Callum and Jake Robinson Foundation.

Throughout the ride, Kelly has faced the physical and mental challenges of long-distance cycling. The last stretch through Victoria, characterised by constant hills, proved especially tough after weeks of traversing flatter roads.

Emotional Moments on the Great Ocean Road

An emotional highlight occurred when Kelly reached the Great Ocean Road and caught sight of the ocean for the first time since leaving Perth. “That was a special moment,” he remarked. “Seeing the water again gives you a real lift.”

The journey across Australia was not entirely solitary. Kelly received strong community support, including encouragement from the Australian surf ski network and followers on social media.

Emily Horwath and Georgia Kelly played key roles in maintaining engagement through social media updates, which helped gather community support for Kelly’s cause. Their efforts have been instrumental in keeping the public informed and engaged throughout the journey.

Damien’s ride is expected at the Geelong Waterfront, where supporters and the public are invited to welcome him. This marks the end of an extraordinary journey that highlights endurance and community spirit.

The Callum and Jake Robinson Foundation focuses on creating positive change, and Kelly’s ride has been pivotal in raising awareness for its mission. This foundation aims to honour the brothers by supporting initiatives that reflect their values and aspirations.

Kelly’s ride has inspired many, and his determination highlights the impact of individual efforts in supporting meaningful causes. The journey has not only been a personal achievement but also a communal celebration of resilience and memory.
