Acquisition Marks New Global Expansion for Forest Essentials

SYDNEY — The Estée Lauder Companies has announced the acquisition of the remaining shares in Forest Essentials, an Indian beauty brand specializing in Luxurious Ayurveda. The deal, subject to regulatory approvals, is expected to finalise in the latter half of 2026, according to the company.

Currently holding a 49% stake, Estée Lauder‘s move to full ownership aims to bolster its presence in India’s burgeoning beauty market. This development follows an 18-year partnership between the two companies. Estée Lauder’s President and CEO, Stéphane de La Faverie, emphasised the mutual trust and respect that has characterised their collaboration, stating, “Together, our ambition is clear: to further strengthen the brand’s leadership at home while thoughtfully introducing it to a global audience.”

Background and Industry Context

Founded in 2000 by Mira Kulkarni, Forest Essentials has grown to become a leading name in prestige skincare in India, supported by nearly 200 retail stores. The brand’s commitment to authenticity and craftsmanship has resonated deeply with consumers, positioning it as a top player in the Indian market.

This acquisition aligns with Estée Lauder’s strategy of expanding its footprint in high-growth markets and fostering brands with a strong cultural heritage. Mira Kulkarni, who will continue to oversee the brand, remarked, “Our shared mission has always been to establish Luxury Ayurveda as a globally respected pillar of modern beauty.” The acquisition is part of Estée Lauder’s broader investment in India’s beauty sector, which includes initiatives to support local entrepreneurs. Estée Lauder plans to leverage its global distribution network to introduce Forest Essentials to new international audiences, potentially tapping into markets in Europe and North America.
