Securing Transactions with AI Agents
On April 30, 2026, Experian announced Agent Trust, a pioneering framework to create a secure connection between consumers and AI agents. This initiative enhances identity verification in AI-driven transactions by establishing a verifiable link.
Businesses face challenges due to autonomous AI agents, which can lead to potential risks like fraud and unauthorised transactions. Agent Trust addresses these concerns by introducing a ‘Know Your Agent’ (KYA) system to verify consumer identity during AI-initiated transactions.
Kathleen Peters, Experian’s Chief Innovation Officer, highlighted the necessity of trust in agentic commerce. “Agentic commerce will not scale without trust,” she remarked. “We are extending our verification role to include AI agents, ensuring every transaction is rooted in verified consumer identity.”
Collaborative Ecosystem Development
Experian is developing Agent Trust in collaboration with Visa, Cloudflare, and Skyfire. These partners are instrumental in forming a comprehensive framework for secure AI-driven commerce, which includes payments, networks, and digital interactions.
Visa’s Trusted Agent Protocol enables merchants to verify AI agents through its established network. Meanwhile, Cloudflare provides security at the network edge, safeguarding approximately 20% of global internet traffic. Skyfire supports the exchange of agent information across platforms, enhancing interoperability.
“Visa Intelligent Commerce and Trusted Agent Protocol offer a secure foundation for global agentic commerce experiences,” stated Rubail Birwadker, Senior Vice President at Visa, emphasizing the critical role of trust.
Experian’s framework is designed to be platform-agnostic, capable of evolving with the expanding ecosystem of AI agents. The company’s solutions contribute to preventing an estimated $1519 billion in fraud losses annually through improved identity verification and fraud prevention measures.
As the ecosystem expands, Experian collaborates with financial giants. Visa, Cloudflare, and Skyfire are key contributors. Each organisation plays a critical role in securing AI-driven commerce. Visa utilises network tokenization for secure transactions. Cloudflare operates the next-generation AI stack, building, securing, and scaling AI agents efficiently. Skyfire offers standardised methods for agent information exchange, ensuring interoperability across platforms.
Experian Agent Trust is a major step in reducing risks associated with AI-driven commerce. The initiative aims to build consumer confidence by ensuring that AI agents act in a verified and accountable manner. This framework is expected to transform how digital transactions are conducted, making them more secure and trustworthy.
