Allegations Against ACON-backed Facility
Lyle Shelton, the Family First National Director and candidate for the NSW Legislative Council, has renewed the party’s commitment to fight against child gender clinics. This decision follows explosive allegations that a Sydney gender clinic, linked to the powerful LGBTQA+ lobby group ACON, has been withholding critical health risk information from patients and their families.
The Australian newspaper reported today that complaints have been lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. These allegations state that Sydney’s Kaleido Health Centre systematically failed to disclose serious risks associated with ‘gender-affirming’ medical interventions, such as infertility, blood clots, cardiovascular disease, and irreversible physical changes.
Shelton remarked, “Parents should be outraged that children are being funnelled towards life-altering medical interventions while critical information about the risks is allegedly being hidden from public view.”
Shelton’s Call for Action
Expressing deep concerns about ACON’s influence, Shelton highlighted the organisation’s significant taxpayer funding and extensive influence within government agencies. He questioned whether proper scrutiny is occurring due to these connections.
Referencing the UK’s Cass Review, which exposed the weak evidence base underpinning the medical transition of children, Shelton highlighted the need for an independent inquiry into gender medicine practices in NSW. He plans to fight to halt the prescription of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgical referrals for minors.
Shelton declared, “Children struggling with their identity deserve care, counselling and support, not irreversible medical interventions driven by activist ideology.”
Family First aims to establish an evidence-based approach, replacing current practices with psychological support for gender-distressed children. The party intends to contest the NSW Parliament elections in March 2027, promising to close NSW child gender clinics if elected.
The allegations against Kaleido are particularly concerning as the clinic operates under ACON’s umbrella, one of Australia’s most influential LGBTQ advocacy organisations. ACON’s partnerships and relationships with national medical and consumer regulators raise legitimate questions about potential conflicts of interest.
Shelton’s campaign for the NSW Legislative Council focuses on protecting vulnerable children from experimental treatments and ensuring they receive compassionate psychological care instead.
