AI to Transform Vietnam’s Agri-Food Sector

Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CPF) and FPT Corporation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to advance AI and digital transformation in Vietnam’s agri-food value chains. The agreement was formalized in Bangkok on May 28, 2026, during the Thailand-Vietnam Business Forum.

Key figures, including H.E. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand, and H.E. To Lam, Party General Secretary and State President of Vietnam, witnessed the MoU exchange. This event marked the 50th Anniversary of Vietnam–Thailand Diplomatic Relations.

Under the partnership, C.P. Vietnam Corporation, a CPF subsidiary, and FPT will implement AI solutions for C.P. Vietnam’s Feed-Farm-Food value chain from 2026 to 2028. Initial efforts will focus on Smart Farm models at C.P. Vietnam facilities, targeting a 20% reduction in operational costs and ensuring full food safety traceability.

The collaboration covers Smart Camera and AI Vision, Smart Scales, Smart Manufacturing, and Smart Supply Chain. These initiatives support Vietnam’s agricultural modernization agenda, with the trial phase set to begin this year.

Levi Nguyen, CEO of FPT Thailand and FPT Taiwan, remarked that the partnership aims to build a “smarter, more connected, and resilient agri-food ecosystem.” Pawalit Ua-amornwanit, CEO of C.P. Vietnam, expressed the company’s commitment to leveraging digital transformation across its value chain.

Advanced technologies like Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platforms and Agentic AI for Operational Intelligence will be introduced. This strategic move seeks to integrate technology across all levels of the value chain, providing pathways for AI AgriTech solutions to reach farmers nationwide.

The Smart Farm model is expected to serve as a blueprint for further expansion, benefiting C.P. Vietnam and creating opportunities for regional economic growth. This collaboration aims to strengthen bilateral relations between Vietnam and Thailand through the application of next-generation technologies.
