AI Technology Empowers Client Portfolio Management

Interactive Brokers (Nasdaq: IBKR), an automated global broker, has introduced agentic trading through a new integration with Claude, one of the world’s leading AI platforms. This integration, announced by Milan Galik, CEO of Interactive Brokers, allows clients to manage their accounts and access over 170 global markets using AI. The integration is available through the AI platform’s certified connector marketplace.

The new setup enables investors to make more informed decisions by securely connecting AI tools directly to their brokerage accounts. Clients can link their existing IBKR account through the Claude certified connector marketplace in just a few minutes using their IBKR login, with no additional costs or the need for separate accounts. The integration draws on the same APIs that many active IBKR users have built their own trading processes on.

Clients can use the AI to ask questions about their portfolio, analyse market data, and generate trade instructions. These instructions are displayed in a dedicated AI Instructions tab on the Orders and Trades page across all IBKR platforms, where clients can approve them before execution.’s announcement, the Claude integration at launch supports equities and ETFs, with additional asset classes to be added soon.

Features and Future Plans

Interactive Brokers has ensured that all API functionalities, including positions, open orders, trade history, margin information, and market data, are accessible to AI chatbots and agents. The enterprise-level integration guarantees that no API keys or passwords are shared with the AI provider and no authentication credentials are stored on the client’s computer, enhancing security.

In addition to Claude, Interactive Brokers is working on integrating other AI platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok, which are expected to be available soon following their certification processes. These developments complement Interactive Brokers’ existing suite of AI-powered tools, which include AI Screeners and AI News Summaries, enhancing the client experience by providing thematic investment searches and summarised market news relevant to individual portfolios.

Clients can inquire about portfolio composition and performance, such as determining the percentage of technology stocks or identifying positions with the highest unrealized gains and losses. As a result, the integration empowers clients to conduct detailed portfolio analyses and execute sophisticated trading strategies.
