Coeur plans 202 kilometres of drilling in 2026

Coeur Mining will spend $158 million on exploration in 2026 at its Palmarejo and Las Chispas gold-silver operations in Mexico.

The 2026 budget is double last year’s level and marks the largest exploration programme in the company’s history. It includes $27 million and 83 kilometres of drilling at Palmarejo, plus $24 million and 119 kilometres at Las Chispas.

Over the past five years, Coeur has invested about $340 million in exploration across its portfolio. That spending helped extend mine life and grow reserves and resources.

Palmarejo Eastern District

At Palmarejo in Chihuahua, exploration is focused on the Eastern District and the Main Mine Trend. Drilling at San Miguel and La Unión has returned wide, high-grade intercepts, and both deposits remain open in all directions.

Coeur is also starting internal development studies as the Eastern District emerges as a possible long-term production source.

Recent Palmarejo intercepts included 11.5 metres at 6.9 grams per tonne gold and 1,250 grams per tonne silver at San Miguel in hole SMDH-138. La Unión returned 14.5 metres at 6.3 grams per tonne gold and 19 grams per tonne silver in hole LUDH-111.

Elsewhere on the Main Mine Trend, Hidalgo hole HGDH-229 cut 2.2 metres at 29.5 grams per tonne gold and 954 grams per tonne silver. At Independencia Sur, hole VIDH-221 returned 9.1 metres at 16.5 grams per tonne gold and 206 grams per tonne silver.

Drilling along the Main Mine Trend has expanded mineralisation at the Hidalgo Corridor and Independencia Sur. Those results should support near-term reserve additions both inside and outside the Franco-Nevada gold stream boundaries.

Las Chispas Gap Zone

At Las Chispas in Sonora, Coeur plans to expand discoveries made in 2025 and continue scout drilling to refill its inferred-resource pipeline.

An accelerated drilling programme is advancing across the Gap Zone. The 2026 budget for Las Chispas is $24 million, with 119 kilometres of drilling planned.

Aoife McGrath, executive vice president for exploration, said the Eastern District at Palmarejo was showing “the potential for a significant new growth platform” for the company.

Coeur released the Mexico exploration update from Chicago on 21 July 2026. The company trades on the NYSE and TSX under the ticker CDE.
