Mill Place Merchants New Year’s Eve Midnight Ball

Celebrate New Year’s Eve At Mill Place Merchants

Mill Place Merchants is open and active in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, and it is preparing to host one of the city’s most atmospheric New Year’s Eve celebrations. The venue will launch its first Midnight Merchants Ball, giving guests a night shaped by the style and romance of the Prohibition era.

A Hidden World Behind A Mirror

Visitors enter through an unassuming mirror that leads into a vintage dressing room. The space then reveals a moody chamber filled with bluestone walls, metallic wallpaper and soft candlelight. Antique furniture, gramophones and shelves of vintage books create a setting that feels both intimate and theatrical. This makes it an ideal backdrop for a New Year’s Eve celebration.

Dress For The Prohibition Era

Guests are encouraged to embrace classic looks inspired by trades of the past. Men can opt for pinstriped suits, suspenders and Tommy caps. Women can choose feather boas, pearl jewellery, bejewelled headbands, silken gloves or sequinned fishtail dresses. Prizes will be awarded to the Best Dressed Man and Lady, which adds a fun, competitive element to the evening.

Unlimited Cocktails And A Special Menu

Mill Place Merchants will serve an unlimited beverage package honouring classic cocktails from the early twentieth century. Negronis, Espresso Martinis and the lively Ginger Rogers will feature throughout the night. The open kitchen will also launch an exclusive menu created for the event.

Menu Highlights

  • Jamon Serrano Croquette with celeriac remoulade, confit garlic and truffle emulsion
  • Flash-cured King Salmon Crudo with Juniper and Native Gin, citrus creme fraiche, plus avruga caviar
  • Western Australian Lobster and King Prawn Roll with Geraldton Wax
  • Live station of Grand Marnier Creme Brulee with champagne macerated berries

Cocktails Inspired By The Golden Age

The drinks menu reflects the venue’s reputation for classic craft cocktails. Guests can enjoy a traditional Negroni mixed with gin, Campari and sweet vermouth. The Espresso Martini blends vodka, coffee liquor and espresso for a rich finish. The Ginger Rogers combines gin, fresh ginger, lemon, mint and ginger ale to create a bright and fragrant sip.
