GetUp's Expansive Campaign in Farrer
One Nation’s primary vote in the Farrer by-election has fallen by three points, according to fresh polling data from YouGov. This marks the second consecutive drop across multiple polls, indicating a significant challenge for the party.
GetUp, an advocacy group, has intensified its campaign efforts in response to these developments. They are actively engaging voters by sending 100,000 text messages across the Farrer electorate. This strategy is part of GetUp’s broader plan to highlight One Nation’s connections with billionaire supporters and scrutinize the political loyalties of its candidate.
Paul Ferris, the Interim CEO of GetUp, commented on the polling results, saying, “It seems Australians don’t like millionaires being bought by billionaires while pretending to be a battler.” He emphasised that the organisation was not surprised by the results, believing voters are becoming more aware of the party’s behind-the-scenes influences.
GetUp’s Multi-Platform Campaign
GetUp’s campaign in Farrer is fuelled by over $500,000 in donations. This funding supports various activities, including television ads, billboards, radio spots, and digital campaigns. The group is dedicated to increasing transparency about One Nation’s financial backers and political motivations.
Beyond text messaging, GetUp has developed a tool to track Pauline Hanson’s flights and fuel consumption, available at please-ex-plane.com. This initiative is part of their broader efforts to provide voters with detailed insights into the party’s operations and expenditures.
As the by-election day approaches, GetUp plans to continue its outreach efforts, emphasizing the importance of making informed voting decisions. The organisation remains committed to its mission of campaigning for social justice, economic fairness, and environmental sustainability, independent of any political party.
GetUp’s impact is amplified through its members, who fund these efforts almost entirely through small donations. The independent movement includes more than one million Australians, united in their advocacy for a fair and just Australia.
Since joining the by-election, GetUp has raised substantial donations and plans another round of 50,000 text messages before the voting day. Their campaign, funded by members, spans television, billboards, radio, and digital platforms across Farrer and other urban electorates.
