Celebrating Culture and Diversity in Education
Western Sydney’s Uniting Airlie Preschool has been awarded a second ‘Excellent’ rating by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), placing it among the top 1% of services nationwide. This rare achievement underscores the preschool’s exceptional commitment to excellence in various domains.
The prestigious rating highlights the preschool’s dedication to cultural celebration, community partnerships, and professional development. Fewer than ten services have achieved this rating multiple times, making Airlie’s accomplishment particularly noteworthy.
Nadia Petrovski, Head of Uniting Early Learning, expressed pride in the preschool’s achievements, stating, “We’re so proud of the leadership, staff, families and children at Airlie who have collaborated to create a safe, inclusive and supportive culture for everyone.”
Inclusive Initiatives and Community Impact
The preschool’s initiatives include fostering inter-generational relationships through ‘grandfriends’ programmes, where children interact with local seniors, enhancing community bonds. The development of a bush tucker garden with local Dharug Elders offers children insights into sustainability and First Nations cultural stories.
According to Petrovski, “An important part of the qualification is the recognition of the value the preschool brings to the wider North Parramatta community.” These programmes emphasise inclusion and accessibility in early learning, ensuring every child can benefit from these enriching experiences.
The ‘Excellent’ rating is awarded by ACECQA to children’s education and care services across Australia that deliver exceptional performance across all National Quality Standards (NQS), whilst also demonstrating sector leadership and a commitment to continual improvement.
Airlie Preschool’s focus on inclusion support extends across many of its preschools, working closely with families to ensure early learning is accessible and beneficial to all children. This dedication to inclusion is a key factor in enabling every child to thrive.
A celebratory morning tea will be held at Uniting Airlie Preschool Oatlands on 19th June from 9.30 to 11am. Media interested in attending can contact Annabel McGilvray for further details. The event serves as an opportunity to recognise the hard work and dedication of the Airlie team.
