New Partnerships in Dutch Innovation Ecosystem

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is deepening its involvement in the Dutch innovation landscape by investing in six technology companies through its Blue Magic Netherlands (BMN) initiative. This decision followed the latest BMN event in Eindhoven on June 8, 2026, where startups and scaleups presented their innovations.

The event in Eindhoven attracted over 350 participants from sectors such as aerospace, defence, and high-tech industries in the Netherlands. GA-ASI aims to capitalise on breakthrough technologies, recognising the Netherlands as one of Europe’s leading tech hubs.

Brad Lunn, Managing Director of GA-ASI, stated, “Blue Magic Netherlands is our window into the Dutch innovation ecosystem. We are not just scouting ideas. We are deploying capital, engineering resources, and access to platforms to help these companies scale.”

Details of the Investments

The companies selected for investment include OPT/NET B.V., Vaeridion B.V., Touchwaves B.V., FDCL Defence B.V., Vydar Commercial B.V., and Emproof B.V. These firms are developing technologies such as AI, advanced battery systems, and data protection.

GA-ASI will collaborate with OPT/NET on AI-related projects like drone swarm management and dark vessel detection. Vaeridion’s advanced battery technology will be evaluated for future GA-ASI platforms.

Touchwaves’ haptic technology will be assessed for use in remotely piloted UAS environments, potentially benefiting long-duration missions by reducing aircrew information overload.

GA-ASI and FDCL Defence B.V. will explore technologies for scalable low-cost future platforms. Vydar Commercial B.V.’s technology will be tested in GPS-denied environments, while Emproof’s data protection solutions will be evaluated for current and future applications.

GA-ASI expects to announce more investments from the 2025 BMN cohort in the coming months as technical evaluations and co-development discussions progress.
